talk ugly

The powerfully vivid words of Joseph Green are beautifully brought to life in vibrant color with illustrations inked by Sydney Long  in this 3-part poetic memoir.

Green depicts his journey from a shy teenage boy to a man who must face harsh truths, all while trying to summon the strength to be vulnerable. Talk Ugly encourages readers to create a dialogue about the toll of suffering and the beauty of generational healing.

Takoma Books is proud to offer a limited run of first edition copies of Talk Ugly.  Each first edition pre-order copy will be numbered and signed by the author, giving readers not only a fabulous collection of poetry, but a rare piece of history.

If you are interested in hosting holistic conversations, you may also visit LMSvoice.com to access the Talk Ugly Discussion Guide, a companion piece designed for parents and professionals to facilitate healthy dialogue.

*Talk Ugly is recommended for ages 12 and up, as it discusses themes such as mental illness, self harm, drug use and suicide.
